Piping and Repiping

At Villas Plumbing & Air Conditioning, we often see homes and businesses that need repiping due to multiple leaks or outdated materials. If you’ve experienced several leaks or ongoing plumbing issues, it may be more cost-effective to repipe the entire system rather than continually repairing individual spots.
One of the biggest reasons for repiping is galvanized piping, which tends to corrode and fail over time. We also encounter outlawed materials like Kitech pipe, which are no longer approved for installation in this area. While we can repair these older systems, installing new ones requires switching to approved materials.
New Pipe Technologies

When it comes to repiping, we prefer using Type A PEX piping. This pipe is expandable and essentially freeze-proof, making it ideal for Central Texas climates. It comes with a 25-year warranty, and manufacturers estimate it can last up to a hundred years based on stress testing. Compared to Types B and C PEX, Type A offers superior durability. Type C pipes tend to break first, while Type B holds up better but is not expandable like Type A.
Repiping can significantly improve both the water quality and pressure in your home. Older pipes, especially galvanized or outlawed materials, can introduce contaminants and corrosion into your water supply.
Water Pressure Issues

Replacing these pipes removes that risk. When we do a full repipe, we also install a new pressure reducing valve (PRV), which can help optimize water pressure throughout the home. If the original plumbing wasn’t sized correctly, we’ll right-size everything during repiping, which often results in increased volume and better pressure at every fixture.
Typically, a ¾-inch main line feeds the home, with ½-inch lines going to each fixture for optimal flow.
At Villas Plumbing & Air Conditioning, we’re committed to upgrading your plumbing system with the best materials and proper sizing to ensure clean water, consistent pressure, and long-term reliability.
